About Master’s Haven
OUR NAME
The name Master’s Haven is rooted in faith. “Master” is a reference to founder Mary Matthews’ Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. “Haven” was derived from the title of a song called “Haven of Rest,” authored by Henry L. Gilmour in 1885. The song was one of Mary’s father Aurelio’s favorites.
In the song, the Haven of Rest is Christ himself, who represents safety from the dangers of life. He is the peace that surpasses all understanding.
At Master’s Haven, we have a highly skilled, compassionate team of caregivers providing personalized and coordinated services to residents based on their unique needs.

OUR STORY
Founder Mary Matthews began her career as a registered nurse, initially in a hospital and later in nursing homes. The high patient-to-staff ratios meant Mary could not provide more meaningful one-on-one attention to those in her care. She dreamed of opening a residential facility and providing quality health care and supportive services for seniors and people with disabilities without feeling like she was forever in a hurry.
Mary shared her dream with her father, Aurelio B. Laoyan, who strongly encouraged her to pursue the idea. He passed away in July 2016, one year before Mary opened Master’s Haven, but his encouragement remains a source of inspiration.

OUR MISSION
To provide loving, nurturing, excellent care and enhance the quality of life of all our residents. To create a sense of family, including those loved ones who come to visit. To make residents feel as comfortable and secure at Master’s Haven as they did in the last place they called home.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
If we provide residents with the dignity they deserve, while creating and maintaining an environment that fosters trust and independence, residents will feel comfortable and secure and as if they are exactly where they are meant to be; truly home, not some stopping off point at the end of life.
If we create a team approach to caring for our residents and it includes staff as well as outside family members, we will be better able to personalize their care plans and more effectively coordinate services.
If we establish a training philosophy that all residents must be treated with love, respect and dignity by those who care for them, then we will naturally create a warm, loving environment that makes residents feel secure, comfortable and happy, and provides family members with peace of mind.
